A Strand of Love

Late afternoon on the patio as we were enjoying a relaxing few minutes in a slow moving swing, my eyes caught the glimmer of what shone like a gossamer thread from the table umbrella to the arm of the chair pushed up to that table. It moved gently in the warm breeze and I marveled at the strength of that strand of a silken spider’s web. I was reminded of how strong our Father’s love is for His children.

Let’s think about that web; the spider’s silk can be stretched two to four (2 – 4) times its strength and not break! It is known to be five (5) times stronger than a rod of steel the same diameter! That little silvery strand is just amazing!

This put me to thinking about the strength of the thread between us and our heavenly Father. If that simple spider web is so hard to break how much more is that strand of Love that binds us to Christ? We can find the answer in Romans 8:35,39: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nor height, nor depth, or any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What a promise!

Let us remember how strong that love is each time we see a spider web and that in short, there is nothing that can separate us from God’s love.
