A Prideful Heart

Thank you Luke for your heartfelt testimony tonight. It was truly a moving of the Spirit
in your life that gave you great courage to share your feelings with us at Crestview.
I had written this poem weeks ago and had planned to post it tonight. Only God's timing could have linked the two together so perfectly.
A Prideful Heart
Humble said to Pride, hey, what’s up with all this greed?
Pride said to Humble, well I have everything I need.
Accomplishments are great and arrogance is there,
Without these I’d be lost because I use them to compare.
Pride said to humble, hey, why do you seem so weak?
Humble said to Pride, well I am lowly and I am meek.
Compassion fills my heart along with gentle love and care,
Jesus is my mentor and I take him everywhere.
Those traits are the opposite of all that I possess,
That doesn’t mean that Jesus would ever love me less.
But Pride, you do not understand you have a wicked heart,
God knew your bad intentions; he knew them from the start.
You showed up in the garden with Adam and Eve,
Your greatest work was done that day and that was to deceive.
You told them they were greater than God wanted them to be,
Sin may not have entered in had you acted more like me.
Humble said to Pride, well I guess you’re here to stay,
It saddens me to think that it just has to be this way.
Please listen very carefully, I need for you to know,
A humble spirit obtains honor, a man’s pride will bring him low.

Sorry to say I am just now reading this but WOW! When I think back to that night Kathy, this was meant to be posted! It pretty much sums it all I said that night in a nutshell! What a talent to able to write things like this! Keep it up, it’s a gift from the Lord not all of us have! God Bless!
This is your best work yet!! Please do keep writing because God is certainly in your heart and gives you these opportunities to uplift an old sinner like me.
Love that poem! Will make myself a copy so I can read & remind myself of some of my downfalls! Thanks for sharing! Pat
