A Memorial Day Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your Son who won the victory over Satan on the battlefield of the cross!

Thank you Father for setting us captives free who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank you for enlisting us into your service that we may be good soldiers of your army, fighting the good fight of faith.

Thank you for the daily victories you help us to win in the battlefield of our hearts and minds and at the end of the day, though wounded, yet we have been more than conquerors through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thank you Lord that your church has endured many battles, some won, some lost, but yet the gates of hell has not prevailed against it.

Thank you Father, that Christ rides victorious as king of kings and Lord of lords and that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

I also thank you Father for the soldiers of America! I thank you for their dedication and service!

I thank you most of all for their sacrifice of self and their faithfulness to our country, even unto death!

I pray for their families on this day of remembrance. We celebrate, but they mourn!

Helps us to be thankful and thoughtful of their sacrifices as we embrace our spouses and children!

Help us to be more appreciative as we gather in our churches and celebrate the freedom of religion and conscience!

Help us, as Israel of old, when their children ask, “What do these stones mean?” to respond that these memorials and tombstones reminds us that freedom comes with a price and that price is not the silver and gold we covet, but the price of blood!

Just as the blood of Christ sets us free, so has the blood shed by many soldiers and martyrs maintained our freedom these many years on battlefields throughout the world.

Father help us to remember “That no greater love has a man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

Help us on this day to mourn the loss of many brave American men and woman as if they were a close friend.

Help us never forget! Help us never retreat from the ideas that has made our nation great and worth dying for!

And also Father, through their sacrifice and ultimately through the sacrifice of your Son Jesus Christ, may YOU BLESS AMERICA AGAIN!

Amen!

Thank you so much for leading us in this prayer that covers the thoughts and feelings of some who might find it difficult to truly express the gratitude due those who have given their lives to ensure freedom in this land. I appreciate you, Robby.
