A Master Plan

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10 (KJV)
Do you believe that God has a plan for each of us? Have you thought about when His plan was formed? I think all too often we hear someone say something about God’s plan for a person’s life without really giving much consideration to the statement. It is true that God planned our days long before we appeared on the scene.
The following statement from www.bibleref.com offers clarity for the verse above:
God prepared what He wanted us to do for Him long ago. He has already planned what He wants us to do with our lives. We do not need to copy what someone else has done or is doing. He has a unique plan for each of us to serve Him in this world. This includes certain spiritual gifts and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to lead us in service to Him.
We can also look back at Psalm 139:16 as it reads in the Common English Bible, “Your eyes saw my embryo, and on your scroll every day was written that was being formed for me.” The LORD’s word to Jeremiah was similar; “Before I created you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born I set you apart; I made you a prophet to the nations.” (1:2)
Now, I know we aren’t all called to prophesy, but we all have a God written plan for our lives. My next task is how to determine His plan for me. My plan is not the same as yours, so as said above, don’t try to walk the same path as someone else.
I think the following points may be helpful in determining what your (and only your) plan is:
· Pray, asking God for wisdom and direction
· Get into God’s Word. You won’t find specifics but you will see the heart of God
· Determine your gifts and talents
· Determine what you are passionate about. Where your gifts meet your passions may be where you will find God’s plan for you.
· Involve others in your life. Ask God to bring you into contact with people who will encourage you and counsel you in your search.
· Take time to pray and think and listen for that still, small voice of God. Be still and know. (Psalm 46:10)
· Trust – trust God to lead you right where He wants you.
The last two stanzas of Debra Belka’s poem, God Has a Purpose, is a perfect way to end this devotion.
We need to know, what is God’s will, we need to wait and to be still.
God has a purpose, but, it’s up to us to heed the calling of faith and trust!

Good devotion, waiting is the hardest thing and listening for that still small voice of instruction to give us direction to start work. Amen.
