Revelation 4:1,2:
There are many interpretations of the book of Revelation and it’s not my purpose to discuss these differences but I think there is one way on which all Christians can agree and that is it can be somewhat unsettling. When I read it I see it as Heavens viewpoint of the catastrophe, conflict, and chaos on the earth between between the Kingdom of Christ and The Kingdom of Satan. So I guess my viewpoint is mostly from an historical aspect because this is not only something which is to happen in the future but has been a battle of the ages. One that goes all the way back to Genesis 3:15 when God told Eve “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
When you read Revelation you see the struggles of the churches, war, bloodshed, diseases, famines, martyrdom, poisoned waters, asteroids, meteors, darkness of the sun, stars, and moon, earthquakes and-on top of all that unclean frogs! It’s sort of like reading the modern newspaper isn’t it? No wonder so many people are afraid and in despair. And if that is our only viewpoint then we have a right to feel that way. But there is another viewpoint available to us: one from above.
There was a voice from heaven that said to John come up here! God is saying to him come up here and I will show you all of this from my perspective and perfect will.
There is a hymn that we sing called “Higher Ground.”
The second verse and chorus goes like this:
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground
Looking at things from an earthly standpoint only give us one point of view and not the overall picture. We look at our present crises and all we can see is panic, uncertainty, and chaos. But looking at it from God’s perspective we can see that He is in control of this and uses this to accomplish His purposes in your life, our country, the world, and history. William Barkley says that “History is going somewhere...right where God wants it too.” This present crises is part of God’s plan and I want you to know I TRUST HIM!
In closing I was talking to my cousin yesterday and she said something that resonated with me. She said that flying at 35,000 ft was one of the most Spiritual experiences of her life. She noticed that when you get above all of the haze, pollution, and clouds the sky is brighter, the clouds are puffy, and the earth is beautiful.
That is my point this morning. Looking at things from God’s point of view give us understanding, comfort, and hope. God is inviting you to come up hither in the Spirt now and look at all of this from His standpoint. Ask Him to let you see what He wants to accomplish in you through all of this. And don’t forget there will be a day when He says come up hither and we will meet Him in the clouds and go to be with Him forever!
Even so come Lord Jesus!!!

I agree with your cousin on flying. The first time I flew I was terrified but when I finally got the nerve to look out the window I was awed. The Ground below looked like a giant patchwork quilt. I can only imagine what the view will be like from Heaven.
